It is important to us that our colleagues feel motivated and can put their best foot forward for the business each day. Diversity and inclusion bring a diverse range of ideas and perspectives that truly benefit the whole business.
We asked the Heads of our People Team why inclusion is important and what they do to support inclusivity within their roles.
Samantha Gosrani, Head of Talent and Development said:
“It is important to understand that everyone is unique and together, we bring a diverse range of culture, beliefs and knowledge to the workplace. When inclusion is reflected in everyday behaviours and decisions, it creates a culture where people feel comfortable being themselves and truly belong. As a result, teams are more engaged, collaborative and effective.
At Nviro, we are proud to have a diverse workforce, but it is important that our colleagues feel included and that we embrace each other’s uniqueness to foster collaboration and innovation.
In my role, we support a wide range of people into employment. We check all job adverts to ensure they are inclusive and we work with local job centres and community organisations to support people with disabilities and those in long-term unemployment into work. We work hard to be inclusive throughout the recruitment process. We also review pay regularly to ensure equal pay for equal work.
In addition, learning and development plays a key role in inclusion. A one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for a truly diverse workforce, so we ensure development journeys are bespoke to the learner. Whether it’s induction or ongoing development, we consider learning styles, accessibility needs, and preferred ways of working. All colleagues deserve equal access to learning and the opportunity to grow.”
Mandi Hartley, Head of HR said:
“Inclusion is important because it ensures that people from different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives feel welcomed and valued, and that they can contribute to the workplace. This provides a better understanding of how we can work together and overcome problems.
At Nviro, inclusive teams make stronger decisions, and this helps us attract a diverse pool of candidates. Inclusion also promotes fairness and equal opportunities for all colleagues.
We hold regular colleague ‘drop-ins’ on topics such as menopause and cost of living support. With a hybrid and remote workforce, we ensure everyone has the right technology and access to development at a time and place that works for them. We also offer support to colleagues who do not speak English as a first language, including through our e-learning platform, and we provide additional support for colleagues with learning difficulties.
As Head of HR, my team plays a pivotal role in creating policies and initiatives that promote inclusion across the business. Our goal is to build a harmonious, supportive and productive working environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed”.
At Nviro, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive at work. Our commitment to diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities is reflected in how we recruit, develop and support our colleagues every day.
If you’re looking to build your career in an environment where you can be yourself, feel valued and make a meaningful contribution, we’d love to hear from you.
