Supporting students with internship opportunities

01 October 2023 Category: Company News Educational Establishments People

Nviro offers an annual paid internship for University of East London (UEL) students every year. Students have the opportunity to get some work experience, gain knowledge, develop and refine skills, improve confidence and help build career goals, all while working with Nviro’s highly skilled, experienced and brilliant team at UEL. This year, Nviro offered two internships to UEL students: Amolegbe Sofiat Tiltlope, a data scientist student and Kamma Mounika Reddy, an international business management student.

Amolegbe shared her internship experience, “Hello there, I am Sofiat, a postgraduate student studying Data Science at the University of East London (UEL). I am privileged to be interning as the Business Support Intern for Nviro. As a data scientist student working in the management industry, I know it is a bit shocking. I had my B.Sc. in Business Administration and needed work experience in this field. It will also contribute to my Data Science degree as I need to experience how you run a business before I can help make better decisions for the company.”

“My favourite things about the role are the people (manager, supervisor, cleaning colleagues) and the experience of it all. I like how supportive everyone is in their various roles. It made me see people differently and learn how to manage people based on their personalities. We were introduced to almost all the stakeholders, which made it easier to communicate and ease into the role as they easily recognised us. We were trained from the basic things to the most important things without leaving out anything. Whenever the managers or supervisors give us tasks, they make sure that we understand the instructions by showing us, asking us questions, and even guiding us through. This makes it easy to deliver as per instruction.”

“I find it interesting because today is not like tomorrow, meaning it is always something new or a new challenge which is exciting. I have improved my critical thinking, supervision, communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, management skills, phone manners, teamwork spirit, time management skills and Microsoft Office skills.”

“I was responsible for booking people, allocating time for the jobs, being a chargehand sometimes, keeping records and maintaining logs, reporting and printing information needed for the job so it is easily understood by supervisors and supporting in any other way required.”

Kamma Mounika also added how she has found her Business Support Internship so far, “I have been working as a Business Support Intern at Nviro and I am currently studying International Business Management at the University of East London; I applied for this opportunity to represent the work experience in my placement year.”

“I have found that Nviro excels in fulfilling client requests and takes care of its colleagues’ interests. No matter how critical the circumstances were, there was never a situation where we turned down a client request. The management’s high standards set a good example for an intern like me who is starting a career in the Business Management field.”

“My Role as a Business Support Intern is a good learning experience. I have gained communication skills, management skills, planning, organising, scheduling, maintenance, identifying and rectifying errors, data analysis, and auditing. I was fortunate to get involved in all aspects, from accepting client requests to delivering service.”

“Thank you, Luis, for the opportunity to work with you and your team.”

It’s always great to support our clients by adding value and fantastic to offer opportunities to students so they can upskill themselves and work towards reaching their potential, all while seeing what makes Nviro different by creating clean, hygienic and safe environments for students and staff to thrive in.
